Sotomayer Confirmation

Has anyone been keeping up with the Sotomayer confirmation deal? I have not been following it very closely, but today I got up to date on all of it. You can also see in real time what the social media universe is saying about Sotomayor confirmation hearing on Viralheat.com. So, what did Sotomayor prove this week with all of her talking? I think that she proved that she is smart, controlled, patient and indefatigable. She proved that she can say the same thing over and over again, using slightly different words, to avoid direct answers to questions. She proved that she can stare down inquisitors and that her ability to dodge tough questions is greater than the ability of committee members to pin her down and that she really didn't want to tell us what we really wanted to know. What do you think about the Sotomayer situation?

VBS All Week!

We have been having VBS at church this week. It has been a blast! All three of my kids have been going and I have been helping out with snacks for the classes. Zoe invited her friend Georgia along and they have had a blast! Our Children's Pastor has done such a great job of putting the VBS together and I have been surprised by how many workers we have. I think we have just as mnay volunteers as we do kids. I think we've had around 70 kids attending "Go Studio Game Show."

Auto Body Shop in Corona, CA

Recently, my friend who lives out in CA had a horrible car accident. Her car was damaged very badly, but thank God she was not hurt in any way. Immediately after the accident she had her car towed to a local Auto Body Corona Shop. They got her car repaired very quickly and for a reasonable price as well. There are so many places out there that will take advantage of a person who is in a bind, but they didn't. They gave her very reasonable and competitive prices and got the work done very fast. She was very pleased with their work. Now you can't even tell that her car was ever in an accident. She said that she will never go to another Auto Body Shop in Corona except there.

4th of July + Baseball = FUN!

We decided to go to the Carolina Mudcats Baseball Game with my Father-In-Law to celebrate the 4th of July. They had an awesome Fireworks show!!! Note to self: go again!! Below is a pic of my Hubby and kids with Pop-Pop. My Father In Law's Group (The NC General Assembly Chorus) sang the National Anthem and "God Bless America" at the game. That was really cool for the kids to see.

Watching TV Online

With the kids keeping me so busy these days, I have been catching up on all of my favorite shows online. I have been watching Spreety TV Online : Watch TV Shows Online Free. This site is all about legal places to watch your favorite shows online. Some of my favorite shows are House, CSI, America's Got Talent, Bones, ABC News, and my kids love iCarly and the Cartoon Network. There is definitely a show for everyone on Spreety. Without watching my shows online, I'd never get a chance to see them all.

Kid's Triathlon

Last weekend two of my kids participated in a Kid's Triathlon. Zoe (8.5) and Xander (6.5) did their very first race. It was hosted by Rocky Mount Endurance Club and organized by Kids In Training (KIT). KIT is a non-profit organization that educates children about the importance of exercise, nutrition, and sponsors races to get the kids moving. If you live in the Raleigh, NC or surrounding areas, check out their link above.

So, first pic is of Zoe and Xander right after crossing the finish line. I won't kid you, Zoe and Xander had a tough time with the swim, but they never quit. They can swim, but they need some more training with Stroke Techniques. My children are Gymnasts, so they haven't done a lot of endurance running...but because they are in good shape it wasn't too difficult for them.
Xander crossing the finish line after swimming 2 laps in the pool, biking 1.5 miles and running .5 miles.
Here is Zoe coming out of the pool after swimming 4 laps. Then she went on to bike 3 miles and run 1 mile after that.
As a mother, I really want my kids to love exercise and enjoy healthy foods as well. I think the Kids In Training mission of Keeping Kids Fit is awesome.
This was a lot of fun and they both say that they want to do this again. They have been getting up every morning and running or biking with Daddy. I prefer to do my exercising in the A/C at the Y.

Online Multi-player Games

My husband enjoys playing games online. He likes the gaming communities where he can play with multiple players. He likes to play at multiplayer games,8c1.net.http://www.8c1.net. The site is free and it is very fast to get set-up to play. You can make many friends while playing online there and challenge each other to play the games that you love. My husband has made many new online friends on this site and saved tons of money because he is playing free games online and not spending money buying new games for our game systems at home.

Big Kids

Over the past week, during our vacation I got the opportunity to meet my new niece. She is 10 months old and this was my first time meeting her. I was super excited about that! The other thing that happened while I was spending time with family is the realization that I am so happy and content having BIG kids. I used to get offended when other people would say they were happy that their kids were big, unlike mine. For some reaosn I guess I thought they were saying that my kdis were annoying or something. But, now I totally get it. I am so lazy now!! I enjoy my kids being more independent and although we have always practiced Attachment Parenting, I am happy to be able to get some time to myself as well. This is just a new stage in parenting. There are parts that aren't so great, like their constant bickering and fighting but I think I like this stage.

My Favorite Perfume

I do not wear a lot of perfume because it gives me really bad headaches. I did recently find a scent that I like though. Victoria's Secret makes perfume and last Christmas I had a great $10 off coupon off of any product. They were having fabulous sales at the time for the holidays. They had a Sampler Pack of perfumes on sale for $14.99 and then I used my $10 off coupon. I only paid $5 to try 12 of their perfumes. One of my favorites is "Ooh La La" and my other favorite is "Sexy Little Things." Their perfumes are normally very expensive, so I was happy to try the scents for an inexpensive price. Now, I know which ones I like when I run out and need more. You can purchase their perfumes in their stores Nationwide or online as well.

Pigeon Forge, TN

I finally made it back from vacation today. It was well worth the drive though. Our family met my Sister-in-Law and family in Pigeon Forge, TN. We stayed at Parkside Resort Luxury Cabin Rental. The Cabin was soooo big and soooo nice! It had a Movie Theatre that seated 15 people downstairs. It also had a pool table, hot tub, WiFi, etc... Maybe later I will do a full post with pictures. We went into town and did the touristy things like Go-Karts, Putt-Putt-, Amusement Park rides, etc... The Mountains were absolutely beautiful. The best part was getting to spend time with family and I got to meet my 10 month old niece for the very first time.
