Stimulus Check Payment Schedule

How do I know when we'll be receiving our economic stimulus rebate? From the schedule posted on the excellent website of the IRS of course. Here is the schedule: If you provided the IRS with direct deposit information on your 2007 tax return, the date that the direct deposit of the economic stimulus rebate will be initiated on depends on the last two digits of your social security number, as follows:

00 through 20 - May 2
21 through 75 - May 9
76 through 99 - May 16

If you did not provide the IRS with direct deposit information, the date that your rebate check will be mailed also depends on the last two digits of your social security number, as follows:

00 through 09 - May 16
10 through 18 - May 23
19 through 25 - May 30
26 through 38 - June 6
39 through 51 - June 13
52 through 63 - June 20
64 through 75 - June 27
76 through 87 - July 4
88 through 99 - July 11

Only taxpayers who have filed their 2007 tax returns will have the rebates issued on these dates. Those taxpayers who have requested an extension of time to file will not receive their rebates until after their tax returns have been filed. If you are not sure if you are eligible to receive a rebate payment, just visit the IRS calculator and enter some information. The calculator will let you know the amount of your expected rebate.

I get mine on the 16th as well! Can't wait. I do have something to add about this issue. I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cards and we blogged about the IRS stimulus a few days ago on savvywallet.com. I just want to warn the readers that there are some scams out there, so just be careful what you do with your stimulus. Another thing, there are retailers who are offering 10% bonuses if you exchange your stimulus for store gift cards. Be careful. Consider this, last year $100B was spent on gift cards and $8B was lost/unredeemed. My advice? save it, put it towards debt, get that HDTV you’ve always wanted. I’d rather have an expensive TV sitting in my living room than have my wallet stolen with grocery gift cards in it. At least I can say that Uncle Sam helped me finance my 50in plasma.
